RACHEL LIMBURG
Rachel Limburg is a dedicated and motivated coach with a passion for developing and helping her athletes achieve their goals. Her coaching philosophy is centred on providing an opportunity for her athletes to try a variety of track and field events, in a fun and challenging environment as well as sharing her passion for athletics.
Rachel has excellent technical knowledge across all of the multi events and this, combined with her training program skills and positive personality, makes her a complete all-round coach.
Rachel is a qualified athletics coach and is currently undertaking a Sports Development degree at Deakin University. She has a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation and a current First Aid certificate and Working With Children Check.
Rachel has been coaching athletics at primary and secondary schools for the past seven years. She is currently head coach at Methodist Ladies College. Rachel also coaches horizontal jumps and throws at Fintona Girls’ School, high jump at Presbyterian Ladies College and Trinity Grammar, as well as long jump, triple jump and shotput at Carey Baptist Grammar School.
Rachel is also involved in the Athletics Australia IAAF Nestle Health Active Kids Athletics program and has coached children of various ages and abilities at a number of primary schools in Melbourne.
Aside from coaching, Rachel is a member of the Box Hill Athletic Club and is a national level multi and individual event athlete. Rachel specialises in the Heptathlon, a two-day event comprising seven track and field events – 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, javelin, long jump, and the 200m and 800m running events.
Competing at the 2020 Australian Combined Events Track and Field Championships Rachel placed second in the Open Heptathlon, in 2019 she also placed second at the ACT Combined Events Championships in the Open Heptathlon. Rachel also placed first in the shotput and second in the triple jump at the Australian University Nationals in 2019.
In 2016 Victorian Athletics Championships Rachel won the under 20 high jump title. At the 2015 Victorian All Schools Athletics Championships Rachel competed in four individual events, winning three gold medals (high jump, long jump and shot put) and one silver medal (javelin).
In 2014 Rachel broke the then Victorian under 18 heptathlon record and placed third in this event at the Australian Track and Field Championships.
